Referral Network
One of the most valuable things you take from college is a network of people who provide you with opportunity. We don’t need to lecture the Soc majors on the strength of weak ties. Ivy Leaguers are so successful is because they intentionally utilize one another as a referal network.
Careers have been lauched on the introductions and recommendations by one GIIPer/Everatti to another. We want to make more of that happen. By utilizing our platforms, we can make our involvement in the crazy experiment even more lucrative.
Post a Job
If your organization has any job openings or you know of any great opportunities, please let everyone know! Blast it out on the Job Announcement List Serv, post them to the Facebook Group and/or the LinkedIn Group. If you’re not on these networks, feel free to send the link or documents to Thomas and he’ll post them for you on all the Alumni Network channels.
Seek a Job
Referall networks are a two-way street. Job seekers shouldn’t just wait for publicly listed jobs are posted, they should be proactive.
Use these templates and instructions for how to put yourself out there and let our network know what you have to offer and what you’re looking for.
As always, we will amplify your message on all our platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn and our monthly newsletter.
Please do not overthink this. No one will be angry with you for not having some Shakespearean declaration of your intention to find a new job. This is just you advertising that you’re on the market. Your announcement can be as simple as:
Hi fellow GIIPers and Everatti! I am currently seeking employment in the East Bay. I’m looking for jobs focussing on communications, so if you know of any opportunities please message me. I’m free to talk anytime if you have any questions or have advice. My LinkedIn profile is https://www.linkedin.com/in/tomgelder/
