Become an Advice Giver

Remember what it was like right after you graduated UCSC? What about a year after? For quite a while after entering he “real world” many of us wish that we had someone who could give us advice. Someone to tell us what it’s like to break into an industry. To choose the right grad program. To succeed in this role or that.

Your professional and life experiences are a priceless resource to so many alumni of GIIP and Everett. By becoming an advice giver, you are choosing to be there for someone who needs you.

What’s Required?

The Career Advice Network, run by UCSC is designed to be as straightforward and hassle-free as possible. Advice sessions are 30 minutes long, and advice seekers will be prepared to lead the session. All you have to do is show up!

To get started, create an account and then set up your “Advice Giver” profile in your user portal.

You’ll create a user account for from scratch or by linking your LinkedIn profile (much easier).

Choose Your Topics

Indicate what type of advice you’re comfortable giving: Industry info, career paths, grad/law school, adulting, entrepreneurship, etc.

Set Your Limits

We respect your time, and don’t want you innundated with requests for advice sessions. You’re able to set how many sessions you’ll do in a month.

Respond When Contacted

If an advice seeker wants to talk to you, they make a request to us. After that someone representing the foundation will introduce you via email and include a When2Meet.

Just be ready to answer the email and get the ball rolling!
